Thank you for your interest in School for Life!

Schule fürs Leben e. V. (School for Life) is based on the concept of ”Helping people to help themselves!“ Our objective is to give impoverished children, adolescents and mothers a basic education, enabling them to live their lives and to earn money in an upright and decent way.

Already, our 4th year in Montebello will commence soon. In the meantime we educate about 140 children in 4 grades. Based on a lack of capacities the Colombian authorities asked us at the end of 2007 to admit 100 more children who lived in great poverty. Due to the building extension we created the space for more students. For a foreseeable time, the teachers agreed to offer education in two shifts – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In return the School Authority of Cali agreed to pay the majority of the teacher’s salaries.

In July 2008 it came true: The subsidies got paid for the first time, hence a big first step of ‘Colegio de las Aguas’ towards its independence.

School for Life goes “WORLDWARDS”

Since June 2008 School for Life is an official partner of the Federal Government of Germany’s new foreign aid program ‘Weltwärts’ (www.weltwaerts.de). We can send young people who are interested and committed to working in development assistance projects to Columbia. They will gain experience in our project and help the people working in our primary school ‘Colegio de las Aguas’ in Montebello. We are delighted to receive applications almost daily.
